How do the varying social interactions help attain the vision-mission of the college?
•

Student-to-student interaction pattern

When students are interacting with their classmates, you can really see that they know each
other because they call their classmates with their names. If they don’t know the answer of the
question given by their teacher, the other one will help. Students are naturally talkative. They
even talk nonsense things which are not part of the discussion. They usually talk about their
assignments, quizzes and others.
•

Student-to-teacher interaction pattern

In terms of student to teacher interaction, respect is present and you can really see that in
their actions and on how they will approach their teachers. Students call them “miss” or “sir” or
“teacher”, especially when they have something to ask, to request or to clarify something. They
were polite to their teachers for they greeted them even outside their respective rooms. They do
believe on what their teacher told them to do.
•

Teacher-to-school head interaction pattern

Teachers were really respectful to their school head. They always bear into their minds
that the person in front of them has the higher rank than them and also he/she is older than them.
When they went to the office of the school head, they knock and greeted first before entering the
office. The way they approach their school head is appropriate in their position.
•

Student-to-non-teaching personnel pattern

The students were really considerate and respectful in terms of communicating with the
non-teaching personnel. The interaction was great sinced students treated them well and fairly
regardless of their position. When they met a non-teaching personal they called them “ate” or
“kuya” when it is older than them. In the canteen, when they need to buy something they usually
wait for their turn and asked them in respectful manner.
•

Teacher-to-teacher interaction pattern

For teacher-to-teacher interaction, you can really see in them the value of professionalism.
They called each other sir, ma’am, teacher or miss. As I observed, they are really comfortable
with each other and they even teased each other. They treated each other fairly. They even
exchanged greetings when they cross roads and you can see that respect is always present.
Enrichment Activity
Create a scenario where any of the above interactions occur in the school. Make a script
of their dialogue, bearing in mind the school vision-mission.
Mariel a grade- 8 student took her lunch break in the auditorium. Sinced she was done eating her
lunch, she planned to scan and studied her previous lessons. Suddenly, one of her classmates sat
beside her. Her classmate asked for a favor if she could borrow her notes about their previous
lesson sinced she was absent at that time.
Lianne: Hi Mariel.
Mariel: Hello Lianne.
Lianne: Can I ask you a favor? Can I borroe your notes about your discussion last meeting?
Mariel: Yah sure. Here, take a look at my notes.
Lianne: Thanks Mariel.
Mariel: Your welcome Lianne. Look!Sir Jade is coming. Approach him.
Lianne: Okay, wait. Just a second Mariel. I’ll be right back.
Mariel: Okay. I’ll wait.
After 3 minutes, Lianne came back and happily telling Mariel that Sir Jade understood her.

VISION: Br. Martin Simpson Laboratory School, a La Salle University extension for the
community for the economically poor children in the community aims to provide the less
privileged children with a quality Lasallian basic education through its dynamic, committed and
competent volunteer teachers.
Based on the vision of the school stated above, the part of the school’s vision that relates to the
intentions of their curriculum is, they provide the learners opportunities to acquire knowledge,
develop the students skills and abilities, exercise the learner’s critical and logical decisionmaking as an active member of their society by giving and providing them different activities
and programs that are relevant.
Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, is a school for students who are financially unstable
who have the desire to study and accomplish thier goals. Also, the school did not focus on the
development of cognitive aspect of the student but as well as physical, social and spiritual aspect.

Describe what school activities promote the following interactions.
•

Social

Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School promotes social interaction by the following
activities like- Sports fest and Lasallian Family Days, wherein the students will be able to
meet new faces and personalities from the different year levels students. It enhances the
students the value of respect towards other people and having the character of
sportsmanship.

•

Personal

Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School promotes not only the social aspect but also
personal aspect of the students. They provided different activities and programs like
contests that will help enhance the students skills and abilities, their self-confidence and
critical thinking. These programs are the Math-Science and English Month Festival,
sports fest and lasallian family days.

•

Academic
For the academic aspects of the students, Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School
provides some activities that would help enhance their academic skills like Clubs in
every subject. In this, the students would be able to join any clubs that they want that
would really help them in their studies and academics. Brother Martin Simpson
Laboratory School also conduct tutorials to the students that will really help improve the
performance of the students.

Your Insights
Curriculum is the planned interaction of students with instructional content, materials, resources,
and processes for evaluating the attainment of educational objectives. The curriculum is aligned
with vision-mission statement of the school that is made possible by the calendar of activities
that the school implemented.
Knowing this fact, it is big privilege for me as an education student because the teachers
especially the school heads could not do things right away just because they want it, but rather
teachers and all people that involve must implement activities that should be alligned with their
vision-mission statement.
As I go through with my field study at Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, I
realized that in making some activities, it should be aligned or based with the vision and mission
of the school in order for the teachers to attain the objectives and goals they’ve created. In
addition, the teacher and the school heads with their principal should implement different
activities that will reflect and relate to their vision and mission so that it will be realized.

“ Pokus ng Pandiwa”

Having a conducive classroom
setting in the teachinglearning process in very
important and it is really
necessary to consider. If
teachers
consider
the
environment where learning
takes place then it is one way
of saying that it is a learnercentered curriculum. Teachers
are responsible in giving
different activities to address
the needs of the student and
should be met at the end of the
instruction.

In selecting the subject matter
content the teacher use some
of its criteria. The teacher
make sure that the subject
matter is self-sufficient to his
students by giving them
various activities and the
teacher also develops and
considers the three domains.
The subject matter is
significant to the life of the
students for they can apply it
to different situations in their
everyday living. And also the
subject matter is learnability
for the students for it is really
applicable in everyone’s life.

ASSESSMENT OF
LEARNING
Performance-Based Assessment
The result of the quiz that their
teacher give to them will be the
basis if the students really learn
from the his discussion.

Insights:
What is given attention in the assessment? Is it the product? Or the process? Both the
product and process? Explain.
What is given attention in the assessment is both the product and the process. The process
is well emphasize and conducted because this will be basis if the product is highly realize or not.
Are the teaching methods and learning activities, instructional materials and assessments
appropriate to the learners? Are they aligned to the objectives of the objectives of the
lesson? Explain.
Yes, the teaching methods and learning activities, instructional materials and assessments
are appropriate to the learners and at the same time are aligned to the objectives of the lesson
objestives since this lesson objectives are the guide on what will be given to the students.

What curriculum principle(s) is/are observed in selecting the learning activities,
instructional materials and assessment?
The curriculum principles that were observed in selecting the learning activities,
instructional materials and assessment were scope and sequence.

Discuss the Principle/s?
The curriculum principles are scope and sequence. In scope, according to Tyler in
Ornstein (2004), scope does not only develop the cognitive but also the affective and
psychomotor domain. When we will go back to the lesson objectives and the content, it really
develop the three domains of the learners. Second, is the sequence of the topic. The topic is
discuss according to simple to complex learning and also to whole to part learning and it is
discuss one by one.
Your Analysis:

Why do teachers need to know about the curriculum design?
The teacher needs to know about the curriculum design because they were the ones who
are responsible in planning and implementing the topic. It also provides clear relationships
between the different elements of curriculum which are the objectives, contents, activities and
evaluation. The teacher is the curriculum designer, curriculum implementer as well as the
curriculum evaluator. Through their knowledge about curriculum design, the teacher would be
able to teach the subject matter/topic in an organize way that would lead to meaningful learning.
Your Reflections:
From your FS experience, recall a most meaningful learning and express it through
visual presentation. Do it in the space provided below.

  • 1. LEARNING ACTIVITY 1 Name of FS Student: Sharry A. Lazaga Course: BSE-3 Year and Section: FS401 Resource Teacher: Mr. Jade Soler Signature: ___________ Cooperating School: Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School Grade Level Observed: Grade 8 Your Goal At the end of this activity, you will be able to describe through your reflection how the school promotes partnership and dialogue. Your Tasks For this activity, go through the following tasks: Step 1 Visit a school and look at their vision-mission and goals. Step 2 Analyze the vision and mission in relation to the existing school curriculum. Step 3 Identify the specific goal of the school and describe how the social, personal and academic interactions are promoted. Step 4 Make a reflection of your observations.
  • 2. Your Tools As you visit, look for the vision-mission of the school. Write your observations on the forms provided. My Observation Report: Name of School Visited: Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School Name of Resources Teacher: Mr. Jade Soler Date of Visit: November 22, 2013 How do the varying social interactions help attain the vision-mission of the college? • Student-to-student interaction pattern When students are interacting with their classmates, you can really see that they know each other because they call their classmates with their names. If they don’t know the answer of the question given by their teacher, the other one will help. Students are naturally talkative. They even talk nonsense things which are not part of the discussion. They usually talk about their assignments, quizzes and others. • Student-to-teacher interaction pattern In terms of student to teacher interaction, respect is present and you can really see that in their actions and on how they will approach their teachers. Students call them “miss” or “sir” or “teacher”, especially when they have something to ask, to request or to clarify something. They were polite to their teachers for they greeted them even outside their respective rooms. They do believe on what their teacher told them to do. • Teacher-to-school head interaction pattern Teachers were really respectful to their school head. They always bear into their minds that the person in front of them has the higher rank than them and also he/she is older than them. When they went to the office of the school head, they knock and greeted first before entering the office. The way they approach their school head is appropriate in their position.
  • 3. • Student-to-non-teaching personnel pattern The students were really considerate and respectful in terms of communicating with the non-teaching personnel. The interaction was great sinced students treated them well and fairly regardless of their position. When they met a non-teaching personal they called them “ate” or “kuya” when it is older than them. In the canteen, when they need to buy something they usually wait for their turn and asked them in respectful manner. • Teacher-to-teacher interaction pattern For teacher-to-teacher interaction, you can really see in them the value of professionalism. They called each other sir, ma’am, teacher or miss. As I observed, they are really comfortable with each other and they even teased each other. They treated each other fairly. They even exchanged greetings when they cross roads and you can see that respect is always present. Enrichment Activity Create a scenario where any of the above interactions occur in the school. Make a script of their dialogue, bearing in mind the school vision-mission. Mariel a grade- 8 student took her lunch break in the auditorium. Sinced she was done eating her lunch, she planned to scan and studied her previous lessons. Suddenly, one of her classmates sat beside her. Her classmate asked for a favor if she could borrow her notes about their previous lesson sinced she was absent at that time. Lianne: Hi Mariel. Mariel: Hello Lianne. Lianne: Can I ask you a favor? Can I borroe your notes about your discussion last meeting? Mariel: Yah sure. Here, take a look at my notes. Lianne: Thanks Mariel. Mariel: Your welcome Lianne. Look!Sir Jade is coming. Approach him. Lianne: Okay, wait. Just a second Mariel. I’ll be right back. Mariel: Okay. I’ll wait. After 3 minutes, Lianne came back and happily telling Mariel that Sir Jade understood her. • 6. VISION: Br. Martin Simpson Laboratory School, a La Salle University extension for the community for the economically poor children in the community aims to provide the less privileged children with a quality Lasallian basic education through its dynamic, committed and competent volunteer teachers. Based on the vision of the school stated above, the part of the school’s vision that relates to the intentions of their curriculum is, they provide the learners opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop the students skills and abilities, exercise the learner’s critical and logical decisionmaking as an active member of their society by giving and providing them different activities and programs that are relevant. Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, is a school for students who are financially unstable who have the desire to study and accomplish thier goals. Also, the school did not focus on the development of cognitive aspect of the student but as well as physical, social and spiritual aspect. • 7. For the academic aspects of the students, Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School provides some activities that would help enhance their academic skills like Clubs in every subject. In this, the students would be able to join any clubs that they want that would really help them in their studies and academics. Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School also conduct tutorials to the students that will really help improve the performance of the students. Your Insights Curriculum is the planned interaction of students with instructional content, materials, resources, and processes for evaluating the attainment of educational objectives. The curriculum is aligned with vision-mission statement of the school that is made possible by the calendar of activities that the school implemented. Knowing this fact, it is big privilege for me as an education student because the teachers especially the school heads could not do things right away just because they want it, but rather teachers and all people that involve must implement activities that should be alligned with their vision-mission statement. As I go through with my field study at Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, I realized that in making some activities, it should be aligned or based with the vision and mission of the school in order for the teachers to attain the objectives and goals they’ve created. In addition, the teacher and the school heads with their principal should implement different activities that will reflect and relate to their vision and mission so that it will be realized.

If teachers consider the environment where learning takes place then it is one way of saying that it is a learnercentered curriculum. Teachers are responsible in giving different activities to address the needs of the student and should be met at the end of the instruction. In selecting the subject matter content the teacher use some of its criteria. The teacher make sure that the subject matter is self-sufficient to his students by giving them various activities and the teacher also develops and considers the three domains.
