Another way of looking at it is for someone to smoke not because he likes it, but he feels pressured by his friends to do so.

3. I’m Responsible – This third level of motivation involves the awareness that one’s decisions affect the well being of others as well as his. For example, one would be motivated not to smoke because he knows that it would be jeopardise their own as well as other’s safety and health.
