AresearchteamledbyDr.MohdHafizFazalulRahiman,UniversitiMalaysiaPerlis(UniMAP)hascarriedoutaworktoimprovetheultrasonictomographyspatialimageresolutionandtheworkhasbeenreportedinIEEESENSORSJOURNAL.TheteamproposedatechniqueusingmodifiedBack-projection(BP)algorithmwhichisknownasAdjacentCriterionMethod(ACM)inreconstructingtomographyimages.Theyhaveevaluatedthealgorithmusing32-ultrasonictransduceronaliquid/gascolumnwheretwophantomswerereconstructedandcomparedusingtheproposedtechniqueandwithBPtechnique.TheresultsshowedasignificantimprovementinspatialresolutionbyACMalgorithmcomparedwithBPalgorithmanditproducesmoreaccuratetomograms.

UnderthestrongleadershipofDrJaafarAbdullahfromNuclearMalaysia, MyCThasemergedintoasuccessfulsocietybybringingtogetherresearchersandscientistsfromdifferentbackgroundinthefieldofcomputedtomographyforthebenefitofallmankind.AsthenumberofMyCTmembersisnowlargerthanbefore,IhopemorememberscanparticipatebypublishingarticlesinthenextMyCTe-Newsletter.Thus,wecanshareourworkswithotherresearchersandacademicsinpromotingMyCTinMalaysia.

On20thDecember2013,UniversitiTeknologiMalaysia(UTM),Skudai,Johorhostedthe2ndMyCTBoardofManagement(BOM)meetingwhichtookplaceatProcessTomography,PROTOM-iLaboratory.Chairedbyourpresident,Dr.JaafarAbdullah,themeetinggaveBOMmemberstheopportunitytodiscussvariousissuesrelatedtothesocietyespeciallyitsplansin2014.ThenextmeetingwouldbetheAnnualGrandMeeting(AGM)andMyCTBOMhasproposedittobeheldinJanuary2014.ItwillbehostedbytheNuclearMalaysiaAgencytogetherwith2014ProcessTomographyResearchColloquium.
