                               Lesson 6: Adjective or Adverb?
            Some pairs of adjectives and adverbs are often confused... 

            • Good and Well 
                > Good is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun

                      That was a good documentary about Mt. Everest 

                > Well is usually an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective

                      The filmmaker presented the information well. 

                > Well is an adjective when it refers to health 

                      After the film, I didn't feel well.

            • Real and Really 
                > Real is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun

                      She prefers real mountains to paintings of mountains. 

                > Really is always an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective

                      The Grand Canyon is really beautiful in the morning. 

           • Bad and Badly 
                > Bad is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun

                      I often feel bad about staying indoors so much.  

                > Badly is always an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective

                      That wasn't a bad hike, even though we planned it badly.

                 Choose the correct word in parentheses, then identify it as an adverb or
                                                    adjective.

             1. American author Jack London described nature (good, well). 

             2. Much of his fiction is based on (real, really) experiences. 

             3. In his teens, he had (real, really) adventures as a sailor. 

             4. In 1897 he was (real, really) curious about a gold rush. 

             5. In Canada's Yukon Territory, he lived in a tiny cabin and struggled to survive in 
             (bad, badly) weather.

            known in the Yukon. 

            10. In "To Build a Fire", London tells the story of a young man facing  a (bad,
