This document provides information about how to find different types of materials in the school library. It discusses finding fiction books by title and author in the fiction section. Non-fiction books are organized by the Dewey Decimal System and have a number and author's initials on the spine. Biographies are labeled with a B and the subject's last name. Reference materials are designated with an R and can only be used in the library. The purpose is to teach students how to navigate the library to find the materials they need.

4. 1. FICTION1. FICTION
When you are looking for a book in the fiction section you must
find out both the TITLE and the AUTHOR. With this information
you can go to FICTION section and look for the book.
Example:
Title: Twilight
Author: Stephanie Meyer
If you look at the side of a book (which is called the book spine)
you will see a white sticker. The top will say FIC or just F
letting you know it is fiction. The bottom will say the first three
letters of the author’s last name.

Books in the NON-FICTION Section will have a NUMBER and the
first three letters of the AUTHOR’S LAST NAME on the book’s
spine.
Example: Title: Anxiety and panic attack
Author: Judith Levin

Books located in the NON-FICTION section are organized by the
Dewey Decimal System
000-099= Generalities 500-599= Natural Sciences
100-199= Philosophy & Psychology 600-699= Technology
200-299= Religion & Mythology 700-799= Arts
300-399= Social Studies 800-899= Literature
400-499= Languages 900-999= Geography & History

This collection is represented by the Letter B,
following by the last name of the person who
the biography is about.
Example:
Title: Michelle Obama: An America Story.
Author: David Colbert
In the library collection we will find this
information as following:

These are materials that can be use only in
the library. You can read and make copies
of these materials, but never borrow them.
On the shelf you find the letter R
designated to this kind of materials.
They are organized in the same form as the
Non-Fiction Section.
