2. 3 Agenda Concern on prompt return of quizzes and exams Proposal to move activity hour to 6-7 pm Wednesday effective next semester Review on ticket purchase as an academic requirement
3. Concern on prompt return of quizzes and exams Context CSG has been receiving complaints on teachers not returning quizzes and exams This is essential for students to calibrate their performances and know their standing Recommended Action The Department Chairs through the Deans shall review teachers who do not return quizzes from the complaint lists from students.
4. Activity Hour Reform Context Classes resume at 6:15 pm during Wednesdays cutting student’s participation in activities. The CSG finds activity hour as an essential and integral time slot that facilitates extra-curricular formation work. Masses are often times disturbed during activity hour (5:30-6:15) Recommended Action Explore the idea of extending Activity hour to 2 hours (benchmarking with other ateneos) Move activity hour from 6:15-7:15 pm to move 6 pm classes to 5-6 slots which means a relatively large number of blocks having a free time 6:15 onwards.
5. Review on ticket purchase as an academic requirement CONTEXT There are reports on departments requiring their students to purchase tickets. If they can’t purchase, they will get an INC. The CSG finds it as an unfair practice since it’s a captured market and something close to coercion not considering the financial capacity of students. Money is being handled by teachers themselves which might complicate the payment process
6. Recommended Action Set up a 3rd party (e.g. Dean’s Council) to approve a request from the department if such requirement arises with student representation Or explicitly mention it in the course syllabus at the beginning of the year Strictly follow that no teacher should hold any cash coming from the students
