Feedback on Marketing Proposals of G12
Business Management Class

In general, the students in both BM classes (SL and HL) did a good job at writing their marketing
proposals. There were evidences of planned research, interviews with the client and the customers, and well
prepared presentations. During the oral presentations, groups showed teamwork and inventiveness. The
marketing strategies they proposed were not all entirely new, but their idea was to sell the library, in its
entity, and the concept of using the library as a whole. The context for which they derived this idea came
from the survey and market research they conducted among students and teachers. Backed up by a SWOT
analysis, the students’ marketing strategies can be done and implemented.
Specifically, the following marketing strategies prove to be useful for implementation next academic
year:

Add a non­fiction book in a
bundled set of fiction books.
Will coordinate this with teachers
and academic coordinators so
that the recommended or

study for the term
Online Resources Seminar for
Teachers
Library Program: Library User
Education (Teacher Track)
Librarian will orient the teachers
on how to navigate through each
of the online resources
Librarian will propose to ALT that
a library open house be included
in the in­service and induction
training for teachers this summer
(July 2013)
Upgraded Beacon Academy
Library Brochure, Posters, Flyers
Library Program: Library USer
Education (General)
Marketing write up on available
library services and programs,
collection and staff.
Will include in the library budget
the printing of a “better looking”
brochure, posters and flyers.

This learning activity allowed students to function as active partners of the development of the
library. They have earned a grade in BM by accomplishing this task. They have also left a mark and a
contribution to the school by helping the library grow.
Libraries are communal learning centers. My gratitude goes out to Ms. Estefani and Mr. Ong for
making this library concept a reality. I hope that the BM students subconsciously learned the relevance of
libraries in arts and culture, and in building learning communities.
