Lab Manager is a self service portal where users can deploy and un-deploy groups of virtual machines known as configurations. Think of it as a “sandbox” where users are limited to resources that are available for only 90 days These virtual machines run on resources that are provided and configured for that users organization.
User is directed to the lab manger web interface which is accessible from internal, vpn, citrix, etc.. User is authenticated and dropped into their organization The user is then able to select what virtual machines they wish to deploy
Organizations allow us to limit and grant access to resources Organizations prevent other users from impacting each other
Utilizing linked clones… ten, twenty, thirty virtual machines can be deployed within a matter of minutes. These can be identical copies of the original template, bypassing all physical hardware limitations
Operating system testing of VMware tools Sandbox testing of vmware vcenter releases Archiving of progress to library for release testing
Through the web interface, you can easily share virtual machines with other members of your team
You can rapidly provision complex environments in minutes Your organization membership determines what resources are available to provision
Code release/testing every 30-60 days No configuration consistency Deployment time was hindering testing schedule
