3. UPM COMMITMENT, TOWARDS ENERGY
EFFICIENCY
According with other countries experience, these technologies improve the conditions for
sustainability and quality of buildings sensitively :
.- The weight of the construction is reduced by up to 80%, with which savings are assumed
.- The new materials necessary are reduced by 43% Greater sustainability.
.- The amount of water used in the construction is negligible.
.- The waste generated is a tenth that of traditional construction.
.- The energy involved in the materials is reduced by 33%
.- The recycling of the materials is multiplied by nine
.- The energy necessary for the construction is reduced by 32%
.- The energy necessary for the transport of the materials is reduced by 70%
.- 70% of the cost of the work comes from the factory, with qualified operators, which
assumes quality and safety.
.- The labor costs of the “in situ” assembly are reduced by 75%
.- The construction period is reduced by 60%, with the consequent reduction in costs
estimated at more than 9%.
.- The material cost of the work currently exceeds between 10 and 15% of the costs of
traditional construction.
