3. paraparesis - a slight
paralysis or weakness of
both legs

4. Monoparesis - Paresis affecting
a single extremity or part of
one.

5. Hemiparesis - Slight paralysis
or weakness affecting one side
of the body. Also
called hemiamyosthenia.

6. Suffix meaning paralysis or a
stroke. As From the Greek plege
meaning a blow or stroke.

7. Cardioplegia: Paralysis of the heart, as
may be done electively in stopping the
heart during cardiac surgery.
Cardioplegia may be done using
chemicals, cold (cryocardioplegia) or
electrical stimulation.

8. Hemiplegia: Paralysis of one side of
the body. From hemi- (half) + plege
(a blow, stroke).

9. Quadriplegia: Paralysis of all four
limbs, both arms and both legs, as
from a high spinal cord accident
or stroke.
