Detail

New World Order addresses the spread and diversity of subcultures through
the process of drawing. My artwork explores the growth of urban culture in our
postmodern world, while showing the influence of Western society on the
Eastern world. I created a series of small-scale drawings to capture the
intensity of the subject matter, giving the audiences a new dimension capturing
the moment. My artwork is a visual narrative that organically evolves,
illustrating the birth, spread, fear, resistance and acceptance of foreign
influences.

I am

Technology: the unstoppable force of
progress that threatens to overpower
mankind – or one of our greatest
achievements? With new
advancements in computer technology
and industrial mechanics, does the
future of artificial intelligence seem
very far off? My artwork shows the
audience that, one day, artificial
intelligence will be achieved and
machines will wish to be just like us,
maybe.
'Entities of the Heart' portrays a hidden layer of the mind where a white soundless voyage takes
place, in which occurs a hollow absorption of conflict, curiosity, confusion and joy. The euphoric
white spaces and soft colours aim to create transparency and tranquility, reminiscent of a childhood
where a great story of imagination must have taken place. Each character is a gateway to a different
story, but they are all connected in one memory and in themselves, become a pattern to my
existence.
                                                                           Entities of the Heart
                                                                           Drawing
                                                                           Ritchie Priyana,
                                                                           ARTEXPRESS 2009
My artwork explores the forgotten past of
the Khmer Rouge regime, a communist
revolution which led Cambodia from 1975
to 1979. Over 1.5 million Cambodians
died due to forced labour, starvation and
execution. I was inspired by my mother's
story of her experiences of the revolution
and the hardship she faced during that
time. She told me endless stories, each
with a moral that taught me to appreciate
my present life. I took influence from
scrapbooking and created layers using
different materials, including paper, fabric,
metal embellishments and electrical
wires. Scrapbooking is used to capture
moment – a memory. I wanted to
recapture the horrors Cambodia faced
during the Khmer Rouge regime as it is
an important aspect of history that is often
forgotten.

  • 6. Detail New World Order addresses the spread and diversity of subcultures through the process of drawing. My artwork explores the growth of urban culture in our postmodern world, while showing the influence of Western society on the Eastern world. I created a series of small-scale drawings to capture the intensity of the subject matter, giving the audiences a new dimension capturing the moment. My artwork is a visual narrative that organically evolves, illustrating the birth, spread, fear, resistance and acceptance of foreign influences. Manh Wai Ly New World Order ARTEXPRESS 2011
  • 7. Rohmone Kozlova ARTEXPRESS 2010 I am Technology: the unstoppable force of progress that threatens to overpower mankind – or one of our greatest achievements? With new advancements in computer technology and industrial mechanics, does the future of artificial intelligence seem very far off? My artwork shows the audience that, one day, artificial intelligence will be achieved and machines will wish to be just like us, maybe.
  • 8. 'Entities of the Heart' portrays a hidden layer of the mind where a white soundless voyage takes place, in which occurs a hollow absorption of conflict, curiosity, confusion and joy. The euphoric white spaces and soft colours aim to create transparency and tranquility, reminiscent of a childhood where a great story of imagination must have taken place. Each character is a gateway to a different story, but they are all connected in one memory and in themselves, become a pattern to my existence. Entities of the Heart Drawing Ritchie Priyana, ARTEXPRESS 2009
  • 9. My artwork explores the forgotten past of the Khmer Rouge regime, a communist revolution which led Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. Over 1.5 million Cambodians died due to forced labour, starvation and execution. I was inspired by my mother's story of her experiences of the revolution and the hardship she faced during that time. She told me endless stories, each with a moral that taught me to appreciate my present life. I took influence from scrapbooking and created layers using different materials, including paper, fabric, metal embellishments and electrical wires. Scrapbooking is used to capture moment – a memory. I wanted to recapture the horrors Cambodia faced during the Khmer Rouge regime as it is an important aspect of history that is often forgotten. Untold Story of the Tortured Faces Collection of works Sothearoth Loeu, ARTEXPRESS 2008
