3. JAMES 5 : 7 - 12
7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until
the coming of the Lord. See how the
farmer waits for the precious fruit of
the earth, being patient about it, until
it receives the early and the late rains.
8 You also, be patient. Establish your
hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at
hand.
4. JAMES 5 : 7 - 12
9 Do not grumble against one another,
brothers, so that you may not be
judged; behold, the Judge is standing
at the door.
10 As an example of suffering and
patience, brothers, take the prophets
who spoke in the name of the Lord.
5. JAMES 5 : 7 - 12
11 Behold, we consider those blessed
who remained steadfast. You have
heard of the steadfastness of Job, and
you have seen the purpose of the Lord,
how the Lord is compassionate and
merciful.
12 But above all, my brothers, do not
swear, either by heaven or by earth or
by any other oath, but let your "yes"
be yes and your "no" be no, so that
you may not fall under condemnation.
6. BURDENS
1. HUMAN BURDENS
2. GODLY BURDENS
Burdens are a picture that we have
limitation and we need God to help us
7. FOUR WAYS TO DEAL
WITH PROBLEMS
1. FIGHT - we address the problem
all by our strength
2. FRIGHT – we are afraid of the
problem
3. FLIGHT – option to leave
4. FAITH – face the problem with the
grace of God
8. Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to me, all who labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn
from me, for I am gentle and lowly in
heart, and you will find rest for your
souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden
is light."
9. • God is teaching us to give Him our
human burdens and take His burden
• Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for
the LORD shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with
wings like eagles; they shall run and
not be weary; they shall walk and
not faint.
God wants to share the
burden by USING THE YOKE
10. “Yoke” Principle
• Two animals carrying the weight of
the cart is much more easy than one
animal carrying the load alone.
• The Trainer and the Trainee
11. Example :
• a good parent teaches a child to learn
to “carry burdens” like doing
Homeworks and not totally rely on
parents to do the task but only
supervise.
13. 1. HOW’S YOUR HEART?
• Our heart’s condition during
difficult times is the primary
concern of God.
14. GROWING IN PATIENCE
• James 5:7 Be patient, therefore,
brothers, until the coming of the Lord.
See how the farmer waits for the
precious fruit of the earth, being
patient about it, until it receives the
early and the late rains.
• James 5:8 You also, be patient.
Establish your hearts, for the coming
of the Lord is at hand.
15. DEVELOPING
OUR FRUITS PATIENTLY
• James 1:2 Count it all joy, my
brothers, when you meet trials of
various kinds,
• James 1:3 for you know that the
testing of your faith produces
steadfastness.
16. HOW TO ESTABLISH
YOUR HEART
1. GET A LIGHTNING ROD
2. GET A RELEASE VALVE
• JESUS IS OUR LIGHTNING ROD & OUR
RELEASE VALVE
17. 2. HOW ARE YOUR
RELATIONSHIPS?
• James 5:9 Do not grumble against
one another, brothers, so that you
may not be judged; behold, the
Judge is standing at the door.
• Being patient with one another
18. GRUMBLING
• a picture of old nature burden being
present in ones heart
• Sometimes when burdens increases,
patience decreases
• Burdens has a “weight” and a “force
downward” that brings tension in
one’s life
20. THE PROPHETS
• Heb 11:36 Others suffered mocking
and flogging, and even chains and
imprisonment.
• Heb 11:37 They were stoned, they
were sawn in two, they were killed
with the sword. They went about in
skins of sheep and goats, destitute,
afflicted, mistreated—
21. Life of Job
• James 5:11 Behold, we consider
those blessed who remained
steadfast. You have heard of the
steadfastness of Job, and you have
seen the purpose of the Lord, how
the Lord is compassionate and
merciful.
• PERSEVERE TO SEE THE LORD’S
PURPOSE
22. 4. HOW’S YOUR
MOUTH?
• James 5:12 But above all, my
brothers, do not swear, either by
heaven or by earth or by any other
oath, but let your "yes" be yes and
your "no" be no, so that you may not
fall under condemnation.
23. • In the midst of pressure , our mouth
has a tendency to misdeclare the will
of God and declare a wrong
commitment.
• A TRUSTING HEART IN GOD,
DECLARES A TRUSTING WORD
24. HE CARRIED A HEAVY
BURDEN
• The Lord Jesus carried a heavy
burden. Jesus was steadfast, Jesus
was enduring, Jesus did not quit. And
he went to the cross, and he ran his
race, he kept his faith, he finished his
mission.
25. THE REAL BLESSING IS...
• TO DO AND FOLLOW THE WILL OF
GOD,
• WE ARE TO REST IN THE LORD’S
FAITHFULNESS IN TIME OF FEELING
BURDENED
• NOT TO WORRY EMOTIONALLY THAT
LEADS TO SICKNESS BUT TO TRUST
GOD SPIRITUALLY THAT LEADS TO
GOD’S BLESSINGS
