2. Poem 1:
Poetry
Poem 2:
- These poems are much more
depressing than the propaganda and
music, they are the closest to depicting
the realism of the war
- They show that some people did
understand the war truly
3. Propaganda
- The posters are meant to make you hate the enemy
and join their ranks
- Another method they seem to be using is guilt-
tripping, for example they show homes burning
down saying if you don’t join this could be England.

- The artists were quite patriotic toward there
countries
- These countries created these to increase the
amount of soldiers joining the army
- All countries had the same goal, but Germany
seemed to take a much more religious view on it, as
if Germany had the divine right to win the war
shown here
4. Music
- The mood and message in these songs do not at all represent the feelings of ww1
- In ww1, on the front, people were dying all the time and high mortality rate
- In the song they are so happy about the war, and keep extremely high sprits
5. Overall
• Overall these works of art show very
different realities than the one lived by the
soldiers. The propaganda showed a glorious
victory for their country, this recruited
men. The music showed a quick end to the
war along with happiness and prosperity
for the veterans, which didn’t happen. Only
the poetry seemed to remotely show the
dreaded horrors of the trenches.
