Entering the War
• The United States stayed neutral in WWII until the
attack on Pearl Harbor
• President Roosevelt declared war for the United States
on December 8, 1941
• The United States joined the War because of the attack
on Pearl Harbor
• Pearl Harbor is a Navy base in Hawaii
• Japan attacked Pearl Harbor

3. Children During WWII
• The children in WWII had to participate in air raid
drills during school
• The children had to be prepared incase of an attack
• The children and families slept in bomb shelters during
the war
• They did not have any computers back then and a
television cost the amount of a small car. Not many
families owned a television
4. Home Front
•On the home front people were asked to ration
everything. They were only allowed to get so much
of one thing.
•Women went into the work force. They were doing
all the work men did while they were at war.
•The Japanese Americans lost many of their rights
in the United States during WWII because of the
attack on Pearl Harbor
