Offentlige IT-innkjøp står for rundt 20 prosent av bedriftsmarkedet for IT i Vest-Europa.

Consumerization of IT (Optional Slide) The “consumerization of IT” refers to the growing influence of consumer devices and social computing and how this trend is shaping people’s expectations for technology use in the enterprise. In simpler terms, people want to use their own devices and access personal as well as company applications on these devices. In fact, 95% of information workers report using their own devices for work, and on average they use 4 consumer devices throughout the day to access Facebook, Twitter or whatever 3rd party applications and social networking sites are important to them. This puts incredible pressure on IT to maintain data integrity and ensure corporate information is secure. Protecting information can feel like a full-time job when you consider that enterprise companies are responsible for the privacy, reliability and compliance of 85% of the digital universe, especially since the new expectation is doing that while facilitating application access irrespective of device. I say this because although there are many consumer devices being brought to work, and 3rd party applications being accessed, enterprise companies are proliferating this trend, for example: Over 65% of the Fortune 100 companies are deploying or piloting slate computers and 65% of all companies are deploying social software tools of their own. This means ever-increasing complexities for IT. How can IT: Provide anywhere access to their employees’ favorite applications while maintaining corporate security and data integrity. Slide Statistics and Sources • 95% of information workers report that they use at least ONE self-purchased device for work. (IDC, June 2010) • Information workers use an average of 4 consumer devices and multiple 3rd party applications, such as social networking sites in the course of their day. (IDC, June 2010) • 70% of the digital universe is created by individuals, but enterprises are responsible for the security, privacy, reliability, and compliance of 85%. (IDC, March 2008) • Over 65% of the Fortune 100 are already deploying or piloting slate computers. (Gartner, Oct. 2010) • 65% of companies surveyed are deploying at least ONE social software tool. (Forrester, 2010)
Infrastructure Cost and Complexity (Optional Slide) IT faces one of the toughest challenges in the enterprise. Often we hear the phrase, 70% of IT budgets are spent “keeping the lights on” but we all know it is so much more than that. Forrester’s findings are that 70% of IT budgets is spent maintain inflexible & siloed data center equipment. These silos are often created as our business grows and changes, with different departments, different teams, and different needs and expectations, we respond and deliver to these needs but it leaves IT with a very complex infrastructure. For example, the average billion dollar company maintains 48 disparate financial systems and uses 2.7 ERP systems. It is not just the complexities of application silos – IT is also dealing with sheer volume because even relatively simple workloads like email, at scale across large organization, can create a heavy burden for IT. Across all workloads, enterprise storage requirements increase 50% each year and IT Professionals struggle to try to harness the data explosion. The growth of data, which costs organizations money as our information workers battle information overload, is rapidly outpacing the growth of the IT professionals that organizations are hiring to manage this complexity. How can IT: Free resources and allow IT to focus on more strategic initiatives. Slide Statistics and Sources 70% of IT budgets is spent maintaining inflexible and siloed data center equipment. (Forrester) The average $1 billion company maintains 48 disparate financial systems and uses 2.7 ERP systems. (Hackett Group, March 2008) Enterprise storage requirements increase 50% per year. (IDC, 2008) The number of worldwide email accounts is projected to increase from over 2.9 billion in 2010 to over 3.8 billion by 2014. (Radicati Group, April 2010) Data is predicted to grow over 44x the next decade; the number of IT professionals is only growing at 1.4x. (Need source) Rise of the Cloud (Optional Slide) Organizations can save money, enhance agility and reduce management complexity by moving productivity capabilities to the cloud. These benefits achieved through pooled resources, elasticity on-demand for applications, self-service capabilities for the application-owner, plus new levels of customization and control with private cloud, allow IT teams to focus newly freed resources on more strategic initiatives. But is the cloud really ready for the enterprise? The simple answer is yes. In fact many organizations are betting big on the cloud. This year alone, 15% of IT budgets will be spent on the public and private cloud and it is growing. The efficiencies of cloud computing are opening new revenue models – it is predicted that by 2015, 20% of non-IT global Fortune 500 companies will be cloud-service providers. It is this transformation that will allow other companies to utilize the infrastructure investments of other companies to run their businesses entirely in the cloud. With hosted public and private cloud offerings and a large majority of new software offerings entering the market as cloud services, organizations can’t deny the benefits of cloud services and solutions, however security and reliability remain top of mind. Rest assured that with ever increasing competition in the space, Cloud providers are taking SLAs and policies very seriously. Their business depends on it. How can IT: Focus on building the right tools for the business with minimal concern about the underlying IT infrastructure. Slide Statistics and Sources In 2011, public and private clouds will drive 15% of IT spending, growing at 4 to 5 times the rate of the overall IT market. (IDC, Dec. 2010) By 2015 20% of non-IT global 500 companies will be cloud-service providers (Gartner, Nov. 2010) Gartner estimates that 20% of businesses will own no IT assets by 2012. (Gartner, 2009) By the end of 2011, 80% of new software offerings will be available as cloud services. (IDC 2010) 90% of cloud application users say they would be very concerned if the company at which their data were stored sold it to another party. (PEW 2009)
