Power Off Stall
1. Before Maneuver: Pre Maneuver Flow and Clearing Turn (Refer to §7.2.1)

2. Initial Stage for Slow Flight: Reduced Speed
A. Throttle: 1500 RPM
B. Maintain altitude until speed is reduced to 60kts (Adjust back pressure as airplane speed changes)
C. Maintain heading during maneuver (keep heading to visual reference point and delta scan) unless
practicing stall during turns
3. Airspeed Within White Arc (at 85kts)
A. Flaps: 10°
4. Airspeed at 75kts
A. Flaps: 20°
5. Airspeed at 65kts
A. Flaps: 30°
6. Airspeed at 60kts
A. Pitch down and descend 100ft
B. Maintain glide speed: 60kts
7. After 100ft descent
A. Throttle: Idle
B. Pitch: Add back pressure smoothly to reduce airspeed
C. Altitude: Maintain
D. Bank: As required (maintain heading or turn to required direction)
8. When the stall warning horn sounds
(Aerodynamic buffeting or decay of effective control happens)
A. If practicing imminent stall: Start recovery procedure
B. If practicing full stall: Wait for full stall (add more back pressure if needed)
9. Fall into Full Stall

Power Off Stall

10. Initial Stage for Recover from Power Off Stall
A. Throttle: Full power smoothly/gently
B. Flaps: 20°
11. Airspeed at 55kts (5kts prior to Vx)
A. Pitch for: Maintain Vx (60kts)
B. Approx. Pitch Attitude=>Dash board w/touch Horizon line
C. Positive rate of climb: VSI 0-50 ft/min
D. Flaps: 10°
12. Airspeed at 70kts (5kts prior to Vy)
A. Pitch for : Maintain Vy (75kts)
B. Approx. Pitch Attitude=>Dash board w/touch Horizon line
C. Positive rate of climb: VSI 0-50 ft/min
D. Flaps: 0°
E. Maintain original altitude and heading (if you lose altitude, climb to original altitude using Vy)
13. 5kts Before Target Airspeed (100 knots)
A. Throttle: Set cruise power (2,000RPM:C172R, 2,200RPM:C172SP) or to desired power
[Maneuver Completion]
14. After Completing Recovery and you are Stabilized
A. Perform Cruise Check (Refer to §7.1.2)
B. Call Out: “Maneuver Complete”
