  with new stories.

• However, in April 2004 Hargreaves’ wife sold
the rights to the characters to the UK
entertainment group Chorion, for £28 million.
How would we use
Roger Hargreaves’ books with
         children?
Reading Comprehension
Roger Hargreaves’ books are simple and easy to read with
brightly coloured pictures. They have short sentences
which usually match the picture opposite and this makes it
easier for a child to read on their own.
Ideas for lessons:
• Put the story in the right order - showing
  beginning, middle and end.
• Match the pictures to the sentences.
• Put the correct word in the sentence.
Characters
The Mr. Men and Little Miss characters are very
recognisable. They use familiar shapes, bright colours and
have a wide range of personalities.
Ideas for lessons:
• Play “Who am I?” and get the children to
describe characters such as Little Miss
  Neat.
• Make up a new character with a new
  personality trait.
