3.  You need these adjectives to show where
things are located. For example:
 This is your notebook. (Near, singular)
 That is my house. (Far, singular)
 Are these your shoes? (Near, plural)
 Those aren’t apples. Those are pears. (Far,
plural)

4. Use THIS for only one object
that is near or not very far
from you. For example:
This is my cat.

5. Use THAT for an object that
is far from you. For example:
That is my car.

6. Use THESE for things that
are near or not very far from
you. For example:
 Karen’s keys are these.

7. Use THOSE for things that are
far from you. For example:
I want those earrings.

8.  As you see, this, that, these and those can
be used at the beginning, in the middle and
at the end of the sentences.
 This is our house. Our car is that. Now, let me
show you that tree.

9.  Youusually write demonstrative adjectives
before the noun that you are talking about.
 Kate and Cindy are those girls.

10.  Exception:when you use the adjective at the
end of the sentences, you don’t have to
write the noun again.
 Your umbrella is that.

11.  Nowthat you know a lot about demonstrative
adjectives, you can practice using them.
