We need to allow students to understand how much their actions can do. 3. Power “Social movements attempt to shift power from power holders toward the movement’s constituent base.” Sleeter Every child has the ability to make a change. We must take a hold of the power we all hold to think differently, to take a step in a different direction. “Along the way they change the way they define themselves in relation to the world and their actions on it.”- Gustein

Multicultural Education “viewing multicultural education as a social movement suggests that effort must be expended to cultivate support among segments of the broader public that are unaware of, or indifferent to, multicultural.”- Sleeter “..deepens their understanding of society which leads to engagement in social movements, at whatever level people are capable of participating given the daily struggles for survival.” - Gustein
5. Curriculum At first glance it seems as if it’s an educational setting that spits out facts about different cultures. After reading, it’s a necessary curriculum to make students aware of injustices in the world so they can be aware. Awareness is the first step to making a change.
