2. Dresden – Platform for the largest
yearly neonazi gathering
On 13/14 February 2009, thousands of neonazis from Germany
and Europe will gather in Dresden – as every year since 2004.
The so called “moarning march“ is one of the largest marches of
right-wing extremists in Europe.

3. “Bombing Holocaust“
On 13/14 February 1945, Dresden was bombed by the Allies.
25.000 people were killed, the city centre completely destroyed.
The Nazis stylised the air raids as a crime of “anglo-american air
gangsters“. Also the anti-imperialistic GDR ideology spread myths
on the bombings. The propaganda of the “innocent city“ that was
“senselessly destroyed“ was internationally adopted without
questioning the context.
In the beginning of the 1990s,
Neonazis adapted the myth
presenting Dresden as a
“German Hiroshima“. The NPD
referred to the city‘s destruction
as a “bombing holocaust“,
comparing the air raids to the
murder of millions of Jews. This
attempt of rewriting history
relativises the Nazi crimes.
4. Silent commemoration?!
Today, the city’s official remembrance concept – a “silent
commemoration“ – intends to give a dignified frame to mourn
the victims who died during the bombings. However, this “silent
commemoration” lacks a clear stand against modern right-wing
extremism and allows right-wing extremists to take over places
and topics of remembrance.
In February 2008, a group of Neonazis dominated NPD parliamentary group at the wreath-
the “silent remembrance“ on the Heide cemetery. laying ceremony at the Heide cememtery.
5. Event for right-wing extremist networks
Leading members of the so called “People’s Front from
the Right“, including representatives from NPD, DVU and
neonazi movements, gather in Dresden on 13 February
2005. The banner says: “Bombing terror – never again!“
6. Event for right-wing extremist networks
Many international delegations participated in last years marches,
including members of the “European National Front“.
Great Britain: British National Party
Belgium: Groen Rechts
Italy: Veneto Fronte Skinheads
Czechia: Národní odpor
Slovakia: Slovenská pospolitost
Spain: Movimiento Social Republicano, La Falange
Bulgaria: Gvardia
Greece: Golden Dawn
Portugal:
Frente Nacional
Hungary: Vérés Becsület Kulturális Egyesület
