- Do you feel like you’re rushing through life and not making a difference?
- Do you want to engage people in your team?
- Do you need to innovate in your organization?
- What if… all these questions were connected?
- And what if… There was an answer?
- When we are personally engaged, we’re our most creative selves, we innovate. Through our innovations we create a positive impact in the world, and this impact keeps us engaged to innovate even more. It’s a virtuous circle
- But when the pressure to innovate comes from the outside, we become stressed and rigid. We block our own creativity and eventually become disengaged.
- If ignored, this collective disengagement will lead to a higher pressure to innovate, And in time, this will cause burnout and a general loss of meaning.
- The reason we find it so hard to innovate and be our best selves is that we’re living now in a VUCA world
- VUCA stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. We must recognize that the solutions to our problems can’t be found ALONE anymore.
- The way out of the vicious circle is through collaboration…
- … EFFECTIVE collaboration
- Until now, fine, but how do I get there? By « Leveraging talent: ours and others’» and by « Communicating well » And «How can we leverage talents? » By « Looking deeply into our lives and finding out what we’re good at, what we love and what makes us special » In order words, through self-awareness. When you’re self-aware, you know your hidden talents and you’re able to share them with people around you. » (optional) « What would a team be like if everyone pitched in with their strongest, most loved and unexpected talent? » On the other side, « How can you truly communicate well with others? » « By being aware of their reality, by walking a mile in their shoes » « This is what people call empathy, perspective-taking»
- Many consultants and coachs will offer you services in those intermediate stages… They’ll redesign your break room… and they might be empty, because some of your coworkers just don’t know each other (first arrow) They’ll assign people to projects based on job descriptions and past experience … missing out on aspirations and hidden talents (second arrow) They’ll teach communication techniques to your managers … and some of them will just sound inauthentic to their team members (third arrow)
