The head of U.S. Special Situations and
Restructuring for Canaccord Genuity, Geoffrey
Richards balances his work with his dedication to
several philanthropic organizations. In addition
to his service to groups like the Ronald McDonald
House Charities and UNICEF, Geoffrey Richards
sat on the Contributions Committee of the MakeA-Wish Foundation of America. Make-A-Wish
fulfills thousands of wishes every year, an
average of one every 38 minutes.
3.
Many people participate in the Make-A-Wish
Wishes in Flight program, which focuses on
covering the travel costs of wish fulfillment.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation requires more
than 50,000 round-trip plane tickets to
provide travel for those fulfilling wishes, and
as a result, airline frequent flier miles are a
valuable gift for the organization.
4.
Make-A-Wish has relationships with United
Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and U.S.
Airways, allowing fliers to donate a minimum of
500 United miles or 1,000 miles from either
Delta or U.S. Airways. Other frequent flier
programs allow members to convert miles into
donations to a charity of their choice, including
the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The organization
will also accept donations of miles from other
airlines that provide transferrable airline
vouchers on a case-by-case basis.
