Today we live in an increasingly connected global world where local events such as general elections, natural and manmade catastrophes, war and terrorism often reaches the attentions of billions of global audiences almost in real-time.
In this magnitude of global news reporting, citizen journalism is emerging as the valuable part of delivering fast and accurate news. Thanks to growing access to internet and social media as well as the decreasing cost of media equipments such as mobile phones we the citizens now have the privilege to broadcast and tell stories in close proximity to local events.
So where does Mongolia fit in this global citizen voices? And why should citizen media be part of the media and information network in Mongolia?
