15. New Authentication Methods
• OAuth 2.0 is now supported

• Rather than deploying applications to the
SharePoint Farm, they can be hosted outside of
SharePoint
– Makes deployment and updates much easier
– Product (2010->2013) upgrades are also much simpler

18. Improved Client Object Model
• In order to support the new application model
more server side functionality is exposed via
REST and JavaScript
• Allows for more integration with applications
hosted outside of SharePoint
– No need to build applications that run inside
sharepoint

• SharePoint workflows now support the .NET
4.0 engine
– In 4.0, the workflow host is now run outside of
SharePoint and in Windows Azure Workflow host
– Provides for more robust workflow architecture
• Older SharePoint workflows are still supported
– Still run inside the SharePoint host
21. Office Web Apps
• Office Web Apps (OWA) has been redesigned
with new architecture
– Now runs outside of SharePoint
– Old FAST Servers can be reallocated to run OWA
• OWA supports a myriad of mobile devices
– Touch support is enabled for iPhone, iPad and
Windows Phone
• Other Microsoft products can utilize it via
standard WOPI interfaces
– Example: Exchange Server
23. Embedded Code
• Adding JavaScript and video to SharePoint was
difficult at best in previous SharePoint
versions
• New Embedded Code feature allows users to
add this markup via a Script web part
25. GeoLocation Column
• GeoLocation field type has been added to
allow for location based data
• Editing the data can utilize standard browser
features that can pull from local GPS
information of the device
– Can be iPhone, iPad, GPS enabled mobile device
27. Work Management
• Work management is a service application that
aggregate tasks across your SharePoint farm and
other applications
• My Tasks page (part of My Site), includes:
– Exchange tasks
– SharePoint tasks
– Outlook tasks
– Project Server tasks
• Tasks can be filters and updated from this page
