2. One day, a girl named Lucy was playing at
home with her friends, when she heard a dog
barking outside. She looked out her window
and saw a cute, little puppy sitting under a
tree. She went downstairs and opened the
chestnut door.
The puppy was barking and
looking across the road.
Lucy told her friends that
she would be back soon.
3. Across the street, hiding behind a tall tree,
was a plump man staring at the big house
with big, glassy eyes.
As the girl came out of the house and
followed the brown dog, the man began to
follow her, but it was hard to try hide behind
tiny, jade-green bushes and trees while
following the girl.
5. It led her to a cave.
She went inside and saw before her a big
opened chest.
Gold was in it.
6. The man was very amazed at his good luck of
the girl leading him to a fortune.
“I will hold her hostage and get all the gold!” he
thought greedily.
7. As Lucy turned around to go back home and
tell her family about the gold, in the sand she
saw footprints.
Suddenly she felt someone hit her on her head.
8. When she woke up she was tied to a chair in a
very dark room. She could only see the
outline of the puppy trying to free her.
As someone walked into the room, the little
puppy ran over and started biting the
person. After a bit, the man fell to the floor.
Lucy could see some blood on the man’s leg.
9. The dog ran over and started to bite the
twisted ropes again.
After a while, the dog finally freed her. She ran
back to her house with the puppy running
behind her. When she got there, she told her
friends the whole story, then rang the police.
10. “We have been looking for that man for a long
time,” they told her. The hurt man had to go
to hospital. When her parents came home,
they kept hugging her and allowed her to
keep the puppy.
