Objective: Build capacity and enhance
GWP/WA, Burkina Faso and Ghana fund raising.
Key output: A Strengthened network to deliver on
WACDEP
Indicator:
- Increased programme and financial performance
across Regional and Country Water Partnerships
- Implementation of Results Framework &
associated M&E across the GWP network.

Imply in West Africa :
- Alignment with National and regional processes,
programme and plans on Climate, water and Devt.
- Ownership from the key Partner Organizations
(including actual co-funding by them)
- Commitment from decision-makers at all levels
- Successful implementation and documentation of
the programme to show cases,

- Capacity building, and scaling up the successful
cases,
- Strengthening Country and regional water
Partnerships.
Therefore, not related only on Work package 8
but every Work Package 1 to 8 contribute!

To achieve these, the activities include:

• Monitoring and evaluation

Programme:
• More staff
• Additional equipments and supplies
• meeting of the Partnership statutory organs
• Ensure additional running costs

• Stakeholder engagement:
– In Ghana broaden the Steering Committee of
CWP to review and guide the WACDEP project
implementation by adding representatives from
the WRC, NDCP, MOFEP, MWRWH, EPA,
MLGRD, MOWAC, Ministry of Lands and Natural
Resources
– In Burkina Faso “set-up a large National
WACDEP follow-up and orientation Committee”
– Develop joint initiatives with ECOWAS/WRCC
– Develop joint initiatives with The Volta River
Authority
– Make sure that the Climate centers are better
contributing to RBOs and ECOWAS/WRCC Work

• Seek for co-funding (National, Regional levels)
• Prepare proposals in line with Climate and
Water issues
• Develop fundraising activities
• Monitoring and evaluation
• Follow up activities and Evaluation of the
Programme
• Undertake joint supervision missions
• Conduct external audits of the program
10. CONCLUSION
Taking into account the need to start from the WP1 for
sustainability and the opportunities :
- the implementation of MOU with ECOWAS/WRCC, and
VBA with GWP/WA has been strenghtenned with
tangible collaboration actions with strong perspectives
for follow-up.
- the CWPs in Burkina Faso and Ghana gain more
credibility with sound input in their collaboration with
government bodies and other Partners.
However, at regional level, the budget for the WP8
appeared to be too small for linkages with the
regional and country implementation processes.
