The Project:

Tutor:
• takes care of students with disabilities,
• performs tasks of integration at school and in
extracurricular contexts,
• facilitates learning and studying at school
• helps with homework and other activities at home.

Its functions are defined by the Class Board which outlines
the programme and development in PEI (Individual
Educational Project)
The tutor helps to reach the objectives set out in individual
projects.

Tutor:
Helps their peers with disabilities to overcome the
difficulties associated with the study and management
of everyday life;
How
Organizing the free time to go to the cinema, theatre,
library, sport centres;
Establishing relationship of friendship and cooperation
with the aim of building the LIFE PROJECT .

Tutor Agreement
• The tutor signs a cooperation agreement for about 4-5
hours a week ( 80 hours per year)
• he is granted a refund ( 10 euro per hour)
The contract must include the number of hours of the
project, the commitments required by the class board and
the exact indication of the working days and hours.

Types of activated projects
• school intervention: the tutor comes into the classroom and
becomes a “special” classmate
• intervention out of school: the tutor becomes the “special
friend” to share leisure activities and entertainment.
• mixed: the tutor gives his intervention both at school and
outside

Family
In outside and mixed projects the collaboration of the
family of a disabled student is demanded in order to
control the activities of the tutor .

Our Experience
The ISISS P. Giordani has a twenty year experience in the
inclusion of students with limited abilities.
This year the number of students certified under the former L.
104/92 is 68.
Our attention to these students is directed mainly to the definition
of their life plan with identification of skills and competencies to
be developed in order to reach a future work placement in the
adult world.
The project of integration and inclusion in school is supported by
the close collaboration of all the people who work around the
person, family, teaching staff, doctors, classmates.
