2. Preparing Puppies for Life at
Golden Meadows Retrievers
The breeders at Golden Meadows Retrievers
want their dogs to be friendly, well-adjusted
companions who blend easily into the lives of
their families. In order to achieve this goal, the
award-winning kennel uses two unique puppy
training techniques.
In the Rule of 7 method, trainers introduce the
dogs to seven new experiences every four
days. They build familiarity with different
surfaces and floorings, a variety of toys, and
many other experiences. By the time the
puppies join their new families, they’re very
familiar with 49 textures, smells, sounds, and
sights. These early experiences give puppies
the foundation they need to adjust to new
people, a new home, and to accept training
and discipline.
3. Preparing Puppies for Life at
Golden Meadows Retrievers
Golden Meadows Retrievers also
uses the Von Falconer method to
produce well-adjusted dogs. This
training regimen specifies new
experiences for each day of the
puppy’s life. It helps puppies learn to
live apart from their mothers,
tolerate unpleasant noises like a
baby crying or the whistle of a train,
and to follow their owners and
navigate social situations. Through
these careful, kind training
processes, the puppies gain the skills
they need to join a new home.
