1. Meet London’s new ‘it girl’
If you haven’t yet heard of Valentine Edward, where have you been?!
With the new album she has released everybody is buzzing. Valentine is
set to becomeevery self-respecting girl’s icon of 2015. She is the most
talented person alive, she has it all; confidence, taste and an amazing
talent. We met up with Valentine last Thursday to have a chat about
how things are going.
Being Valentine Edward
“Everything is going insane, I have been so busy with promoting my new
album that I haven’t even had time for anybody else or even myself. I’m
not complaining though, I’m loving every second of it”.
We asked Valentine how she copes with the sudden transformation of
becoming a somebody in the music industry, she giggled, “I don’t really
see myself as ‘somebody’ I still see myself as a normal person, I’m just
really glad my album finished. I never thought I would see the day”.
Valentine describes her new album as a motivational album for teenage
girls, “I think every problem a teenage girl or boy possiblycould face has
been covered in my new album. There’s a song for every issue!!”
We asked Valentine how she wanted her audience to feel like when
listening to her songs,“I want people to feel motivational and realise that
there is a future and everything they are going through now is
temporary. I just want people to feel good and alive when listening to my
songs. I mean there are some songs where the lyrics just don’t make
sense and those types of songs are just pointless. I mean every song
should have a meaning. I want my songs to have a meaning and make
sense”.
“I write songs about reality not fairy tales”
We asked Valentine if she thinks she would ever fall into the sex and
drugs element of this lifestyle, “never, I would never lose my self-control
and dignity. I feel so bad for artists that fall into that path of drugs and so
on, as it is a horrible thing to lose control over your own body. Also, I
would never want to set that kind of example to my fans. I’m a very
confident person so I believe I can handle the pressure”.
Valentine hasn’t yet been spotted with a guy and this had everybody
wondering if she has met the one yet or is single and ready to mingle, “
I’m single” she laughed, “ Before I would wish to have a boyfriend and
2. was so desperate to have one. But now that I have grown up I have
realised that guys actually don’t mean everything and career comes first.
My last relationship ended really badly and the breakup was horrible. At
the moment I don’t want to go through anything like that again so I’m just
going to focus on my career and have fun”.
We asked Valentine what or who inspired her to become a singer, “the
thing is I have always wanted to help people and give motivation to
people going through a hard time. Before I wanted to become a social
worker or therapist but later on I saw how much Demi Lovato inspired
young people and helped them through her songs and strong lyrics.
Therefore, then I decided to become a singer. And now here I am”.
Valentine’s new album left everybody buzzing, we asked her what she
thinks of her new album and if she is proud of it “ to be honest it took me
so long to write the lyrics for my new songs, as I wanted it to have a
meaning. So I am so proud of my new album, as I spent so much effort
on it and I hope my fans will like it as much as I do”. Her new album is
named “survivor” which is a very unique album name. We asked her why
she named it “survivor”, “ I know it’s a bit strange to call an album
survivor but the songs in the album are all about struggling with
something and how to overcome it. So it would make sense to call the
album survivor. Also, I hope all my fans that listen to this album will like it
and it will help them to become a survivor too, as music always helped
me when I was struggling too”.
Finally, we asked her if she is happy with herself so far, as she has done
so much wonderful work in such a short amount of time at such a young
age, she already has 5 albums “everything just feels so weird, like a
dream you know. I feel like I’m going to wake up one day and it’s all
going to be over. So yes I am proud of myself and very happy that I
chose this career, as it makes me really happy and I just love singing.
Even though it is sometimes hard to cope with all the fame and
paparazzi’s at the end it is all worth it. I mean I can’t believe I already
have 5 albums, I still remember releasing my first album. Time just fly’s
when you’re having fun”.
