Yaritza broke her arm two years ago when she was seven. While flying kites with her sisters and cousins, a dog started chasing them and she fell on her arm. Her dad scared the dog away and took her to the doctor. At the doctor's office, an x-ray showed her arm was broken and she had to wear a purple cast, her favorite color, for two months.

2. Two years ago on March 2, 2009, when I was seven, I broke my arm. On that day I was flying my kite with my sisters and cousins. We were flying our kites back and forth in my neighborhood.

3. As we ran to our left, a Chihuahua started barking and chasing us. I tripped and fell on my arm. The dog was trying to bite me, but my dad came running to me and scared the dog away and picked me up.

4. I was crying because I couldn’t move my arm so we couldn’t go to the park to fly our kites. My mom and dad took me to the doctor.

5. When we got to the doctor, I was terrified. They called me, and the doctor sent my parents to a room to wait for another doctor.

6. When the doctor came, she told us to follow her to an x-ray room. The doctor x-rayed my arm and took three different pictures of my arm. She told my parents that I had a broken bone, and that I had to wear a cast.

7. Then we went to a different room. The doctor told me to pick a color for my cast, so I picked purple which is my favorite color. Before we left for home, the doctor told me I had to wear it for two months.

8. I was happy because people could sign my purple cast.
