2. the Soviet union is the United States’ enemy
And the countries like France, the Soviet Union, and
China started make nuclear weapons.
the United States got scared they will lose in the war
then they also started make nuclear weapons
against Russia.
The United States became the first country in the
world to use nuclear weapons when they bombed
Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
These bombs were faster, cheaper, and its easier
destroy the countries.
3. As the United States perceived their main enemy to
be the Soviet Union, they needed missiles that could
travel long distance. Therefore, after the war, the
United States concentrated on developing
intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). The break
through came in 1952 when the United States
exploded their first hydrogen bomb. H-bombs
provided large explosions with smaller, lighter
warheads. Weight had always been a problem and
these new lighter missiles were much more accurate.
By 1957 the United States had developed the Atlas
missile that could travel 6,000 miles and land within
a mile of its target.
4. Both of them used nuclear weapons. Both sides
developed a capability to launch a devastating attack
even after sustaining a full assault from the other side
(especially by means of submarines), called a second
strike. This policy was part of what became known as
Mutual Assured Destruction: both sides knew that any
attack upon the other would be devastating to
themselves, thus in theory restraining them from
attacking the other.
5. Nuclear Arms Race: was a competition for
supremacy used nuclear weapons between
the United States and the Soviet Union, and their
respective allies during The Cold war.
Mutual Assured Destruction: destruction between
nations (US and Soviet Union) guaranted
