2. Once upon a time, there was a Roman soldier.
His name was Steve.
He had a shiny silver sword, armour and a golden helmet with a red feather on top.
Steve lived in a small village called Glenly.
Everyday Steve would go strolling around town looking for trouble.
He was considered the toughest person in the village.
3. One day, the king asked Steve for a favour.
He wanted him to defend his castle from his enemies .
Steve had been in many battles.
Though in his last one he had lost all his soldiers.
In his message the king also asked Steve to come over the next night!
4. Steve went to the centre of the village to find some volunteers.
He put up banners and posters that explained everything.
Very quickly he came up with 50 soldiers, but that wasn't enough.
Steve found another group of soldiers that wanted to join him.
He lined them all up in rows and counted them, but that still wasn't enough.
5. Steve was tired, and it was nearly
time for the sun to set.
As Steve was walking home he
spotted a sign.
The sign read...WANTED MORE
SOLDIERS.
Steve had an idea!
If he could find the person who put
up the sign they could protect the
kingdom together!
Steve ran to where the address
took him as fast as he could.
When he got there, he saw an old
man walking around an old
wooden cottage.
The man greeted him and led him
inside.
The place was storming with
soldiers.
There were big ones, there were
small ones, there were short ones,
there were tall ones.
There almost wasn't enough room
to move in.
When Steve told them why he was
there they all agreed to come.
6. Steve became very rich and very famous.
Him and the old man became very good friends, and they lived
happily ever after.
