Jayson Werth is a right fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies who was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1979. He attended Glenwood High School where he led his team with a .652 batting average and 15 home runs his senior year. Werth was drafted in the first round by the Baltimore Orioles in 1997 and made his MLB debut that year, going on to also play for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2004, he was traded to the LA Dodgers but suffered a broken wrist after being hit by a pitch in 2005, forcing him to miss the entire 2006 season.
