2. Levels of Edit The best way to revise and edit is to look at the document from different points of view. Level 1: Revision Pays special attention to document's subject, purpose, readers and context of use Level 2: Substantive Editing emphasis on content, organization and design of the document Level 3:Copyediting revision of the style of the document for clarity, persuasion and consistency. Level 4: Proofreading grammar mistakes and misspellings

Revising: Level 1 Editing subject: Make sure that your subject is specific enough purpose: Double check to make sure that your document is successfully achieving its goal or purpose readers: make sure that you know who your readers are and the needs of your readers. context of use: Anticipate issues and life experiences that will shape your reader's interpretations of your document

4. Substantive Editing: Level 2 Editing What is Substantive Editing? Substantive Editing is to make the document easier for its readers to understand, not just to make it correct and consistent. When you Substantive Edit your paper , you should concentrate on the content, organization, and design of the document. (Pg.309) There are 3 different perspectives you need to look at
