Chief Klukas: Why are we here? Gen Hobbins, Lt Gen Bishop, Chief Coleman and I are concerned about our safety trends. We want to talk about ARIs, and highlight some problem areas throughout the command. Lt Gen Bishop wants to talk to you about the recent hi-visibility incident in the CONUS. Then your local safety team will take over and brief you on some local safety topics. We’ll wrap up with an opportunity for you to ask me and the boss some questions.
3 AF/CC Talking Point: I developed these priorities while I was USAFE/CV…I thought, “What would my MAJCOM and Combatant Commander want me, as the Operational Component Commander to USAFE, to focus on?” We’re building our goals and metrics programs around these priorities.
At first glance, it may be difficult for the American taxpayer to figure out why we are spending so much money keeping military forces in Europe – especially since the end of the Cold War I think one of the most important reasons we are working and training “over here” is to work, train, and help develop our joint team members, our allies and coalition partners It’s very unlikely we’ll ever engage in completely unilateral ops – therefore it’s critical we can work together as a joint and coalition team Our TSC program is not just (as I like to call it) a “travel agency” – we are focusing our efforts on the specific countries in our AOR “we can go downtown” with in combat ops This effort extends from the very highest strategic level, through the operational level at 3 AF, down to the “tactical” level with events like your WTDs
