Pete Townshend is an English rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter best known for being the guitarist and songwriter for the legendary band The Who. Born in 1945 in Chiswick, England to musical parents, Townshend received his first guitar at age 12 and went on to virtually invent famous guitar techniques still used today through his work with The Who.
