2. 1. Resume I learned how to put a resume together, what to add and leave out of a resume, and what employers look for in a resume.
3. 2. Etiquette I learned what examples of proper etiquette are. I got some great information on what to do at certain dinners and lunches and what is the proper way to act.
4. 3. Dress How you dress to an interview or meeting is very important. We learned about the dos and don’ts in what to wear in certain environments. DO DON’T
5. 4. Job search I learned that in order to find a job, you have to be persistent and follow up on your interview. Thank you notes always help and you have to stand out (in a good way).
6. 5. Interview Interviews are an essential part in any job process. We learned how to answer certain question, what to bring, and how to prepare for an interview.
7. 6. Portfolio Throughout the semester, we talked a great deal about our portfolios. I learned how to create mine, what the best pieces to put in a portfolio are, and how to present your own portfolio.
8. 7. LinkedIn We were all required to create a LinkedIn profile for this class. I found this very helpful because I now have at least 20 connections (and counting), and I think it is a great networking tool, especially for PR majors.
9. 8. PR Trade Book We all picked a PR trade book to read and present to the class. I learned a lot from all of the presentations which varied from marketing to PR to event planning. I wrote down multiple titles and am looking forward to reading some of the books that we discussed in the future. My trade book:
10. 9. Informational Interview Pam Corbett was the PR professional that I interviewed for this class. It was interesting to talk to her and find out more information on a different side of PR that she worked with (PR with a Marketing/Communications slant)
11. 10. Last but NOT least… Overall, this class taught me how to prepare for life after college. I got a better idea of how to interview and prepare for the job search in general. I believe this class will help me to be a better PR professional in the future.
