8. Limiting beliefs 1954, Roger Banister -first man -one mile < 4 minutes. In Roger's own words, "It was widely believed that attempting to break the 4-minute barrier is suicide. So, naturally, when I got up on my feet after having collapsed at the finish line, I assumed I was dead". Roger broke that limiting barrier of belief. He made himself do the "impossible". 37 in 1955, 300 in 1956
9. Limiting beliefs Creating our reality -unconsciously. Do it consciously by focusing on the things we want, instead of those that we don’t. Beliefs have tremendous power over us, and over the quality of our entire lives. Some of our beliefs are helpful, such as the belief that we will be healthier if we eat well and exercise. Other beliefs can have a really negative impact on us unhappiness, poverty, poor health, in miserable relationships, or even alone.
10. Common limiting beliefs I am not good enough I will never be any good. People can't be trusted. I am safer on my own. I would like a relationship but I could get hurt a lot. I am too sensitive. I am to blame for everything. Others do things better than me. I am afraid of success.
11. Limiting beliefs - Exercise Identify your limiting beliefs - what’s stopping you? Look at each one and think... Does this make sense? How did I learn this idea, and from whom? How does believing in this idea affect me? Does it help me succeed or does it hinder me, and how?
13. A final thought! Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you're right either way" Henry Ford

Until then, for thousands of years, it was widely accepted by doctors and scientists that breaking this 4-minute barrier was impossible.
Beliefs have tremendous power over us, and over the quality of our entire lives. They dictate how happy and successful we are (or not), the nature of our relationships, what type of home we live in, and even what kind of car we drive. They direct every single facet of our lives, and all of our decisions.
