Telecommunications service provider Reliance Communications has announced the launch
of the Reliance 3G Tab, a 3G-enabled tablet on the Android platform. Reliance is the first
telecom operator in the country to offer tablets on both 3G and CDMA networks.
The Reliance 3G Tab comes with a 7 inch capacitive touch screen, Android 2.3 OS and a 1.4
GHz processor. The latest 3G tablet from Reliance sports a screen resolution of 1024 x 600,
loaded with 512 MB RAM, and 5 point touch. The tablet weighs 402 grams. It comes with a
3.0 MP rear camera and a front camera, enabling video calling, among other key features.

The Reliance 3G Tab is supported by Reliance’s IP-based 3G network across 13 circles
covering 333 towns in the country. To further enhance its value proposition, Reliance
Communications is offering free benefits worth Rs. 6250 to its 3G customers. They can enjoy
3 GB of free 3G data for 3 months, free local and STD video calling for 3 months to other
Reliance 3G users, free voice rental for 12 months along with free global calling worth Rs.
250, free subscription of McAfee Mobile Security for 1 year, free subscription of BigFlix for
2 months, and a free 4 GB micro SD card.
2. For business users, the Reliance 3G Tab provides a user-friendly email experience with push
email capability and is bundled with ‘Documents To Go’ that supports Microsoft Excel,
Word, PowerPoint and PDF formats. The tablet supports multiple email accounts of GMAIL,
IMAP and POP3 accounts and also supports Lotus Traveler and Microsoft Exchange for
Enterprise Email Solutions.

Search), popular news websites (ET, TOI and NDTV), entertainment services (BigFlix,
Reliance World Online, Reliance TV), and social networking services (Facebook, Twitter and
Orkut) in addition to the applications provided by the Android Play Store.

There is a lot to like about the Reliance 3G tablet including decent build quality and a fairly
functional feature set. Once we couple these features and the Rs. 12,999 starting price tag
with the myriad of 3G plans the offer becomes tastier. Clearly this device is not meant to be a
workhorse. As a multimedia consumption hub the device fits the bill perfectly.
One has to admit the Reliance Tab has the potential to open up the 3G market in the country.
