Introduction to Indian Navy Technical Branch
Modern ships, submarines and aircraft have advanced technology, machinery and propulsion systems and abound with advanced technology, machinery for steam, diesel, gas turbines or combination of these. The Engineer Officer is responsible for keeping all these systems serviceable.Opportunities to work in shore jobs in naval dockyards and indigenous production units also exist. In no other career is an engineer exposed to such a wide spectrum of opportunities to keep abreast of modern development. There are opportunities to work in shore jobs in naval dockyards, laboratories and indigenous production units. An Engineer Officer's career is interspersed with technical courses upto post-graduation. Navy employs engineers of various disciplines, who are trained further at the Naval College of Engineering at Lonavala near Pune and Electrical Training Establishment at Jamnagar. The career is intersperse with technical training courses upto post-graduation level in India and possibly abroad
Naval Architects Naval Architects specialize in warship construction. The Indian Navy employs the largest pool of trained Naval Architects in India. A Naval Architect is trained in design, construction, quality control and repair of naval vessels. With the Navy's urge of producing the utmost sophisticated warships within the country, the Naval Architect cadre offers excellent opportunities to keep abreast of the advancement in ship building technology. For repair and maintenance of ships and submarines, the Indian Navy has two major dockyards located at Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. Smaller ship repair yards function at Kochi and Port Blair. Major aircraft repair and maintenance organization exists at Kochi and Goa. Selection Procedure: Indian Navy applications are invited from unmarried candidates who fulfill eligibility condition of Nationality as laid down by the Government of India for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Technical [Engineering (E) & Electrical (L)] Branches of the Indian Navy for course commencing Jan 2011.
Eligibility Conditions for Indian Navy 2010 Age and Block dates for the different entries of Technical Branches are as follows:
Educational Qualifications for Indian Navy: Four years BE/B. Tech Engineering Degree qualified with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university with one of the following streams:

A .Height and Weight. Minimum height-157 cms with correlated weight.B .Eye Sight. 6/24, 6/24 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.Short Service Commission extension: ,[object Object]
