The Government of Maharashtra is backing a move to convert the defunct Juhu Airport into a commercial airport for ATRs and private planes. This is only a ruse by a private developer to grab 385 acres of public space for commercial exploitation. This space has been reserved 40 years ago in the City's Development Plan for a sports complex, a sports institute, a public park, two very important and critical connecting roads and other public amenities. The Airport Authority of India in collusion with a large developer hopes to convert public land worth thousands of crores of rupees at today's market value, for private gain. The ONLY losers will be the Citizen of Mumbai who will be deprived of much needed public amenities. The other major loss will be Juhu Beach a 3.75 km stretch of long beach that will be destroyed! Please join us in our endeavour to save Juhu Beach and vital public space from the clutches of vested interests.

proposed for 40 years
“ I had requested Civil Aviation
Minister Praful Patel to develop
Juhu Airport as a green lung and
not as real estate given that the
second airport will be coming up
soon in Navi Mumbai.”
