Survival 101… Who makes the cut?
After reading the scenario my group was assigned, we chose 4 people who we thought
could use their survival skills to re-populate the earth and eliminated the ones who we thought
could not.

Who We Chose
1. Scientist- We felt that the scientist could help us grow crops depending on his level of
knowledge and teach others their education as well. We also chose to make this person a
female.
2. Army Officer- We felt that the army officer (who we chose as a male) would help us benefit
by his knowledge of survival skills. The downside to him would be that he had mental
instability of some sort.
3. Doctor- We felt that the doctor could be useful for medical needs. We chose this person as a
male because if the doctor were female, she could not deliver her own child. It would benefit
for the rest if the doctor were male.
4. University Professor- We felt that the university professor (who we chose as a female)
would be useful since they would have a college education with different sets of skills they
could teach the others.

Who We Eliminated
1. Priest- We felt that we could practice our faith on our own.
2. Married hippie couple- We felt that others had better credentials.
3. Pregnant woman with 5 year old- We felt that the pregnant woman would need extra
care and resources. Her 5 year old daughter would be in the way and a waste of an extra
person.
4. Elderly woman- We felt that the elderly woman would be too weak compared to the
other survivors.
5. Disabled person- We felt that the disabled person wouldn’t be as strong as any of the
other survivors.
6. Lawyer- We contemplated choosing the lawyer, but decided not to since most of his
education would be unrelated to the basic survival skills we need to know.
7. Lazy welfare dependent- We felt that the lazy welfare dependent would be too lazy to
help out the others. Even though there is a small chance he might change.
