The atmosphere is composed of nitrogen making up 78%, oxygen at 21%, and other gases including argon and carbon dioxide at 1%. Earth's atmosphere consists of different layers including the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. The lowest layer, the troposphere, contains around 75% of the atmosphere's mass and most weather phenomena.
