This document provides information about the APCUG Community Service Campaign Kickoff. It discusses how user groups can partner with the National Cristina Foundation to start community service programs that refurbish and donate computers. User groups are encouraged to reach out to their local communities to identify needs and potential recipients of donated computers. The document provides templates, checklists and other resources to help user groups implement community service initiatives. It also shares examples of requests received by the National Cristina Foundation seeking donated computers.

9. We make it easy to set up a program of community service at you user group. Give you pre-written templates of promotional releases, letters and news letter columns. Check lists to help start your program. NCF provides an on line database for your user groups listing of its services and equipment needs as a Cristina Community Partner. 2,000 Cristina partners on a geographically sortable list online for you to work with in your local community. You don’t have to touch or refurbish a computer.

16. Search for local NCF pre-approved partners via state, city or zip code
17. Learn about the missions and services of the identified NCF partners
18. Determine if their donation meets selected partner’s needs
19. Select the local partner of their choice and complete the online Donor Submission Form (DSF)
20. Receive a donation acknowledgement letter for tax purposes

26. Meet Cristina McMahon In 1983, I was a student in the Yonkers Public School System and that was where I met Dr. Yvette Marrin. In our class at school 29 I was not the only student who had trouble writing because there were lots of other students who were having the same trouble I had. It was hard writing things down and keeping my thoughts on the paper as I have Cerebral Palsy.

Message: Dear sir/madam, I'm a 27 year old young man who has been blind for four years and is currently striving to complete my online courses using a public computer as I don't have one of my own. I was kindly asking for assistance in acquiring a personal computer workstation comprising of a PC, printer and scanner as it is a great necessity for through my personal experiences in the last four years had a fire ignite in me to come up with life changeing ideas. I'm currently working towards establishing a social educational project in computer literacy to benefit the blind and visually impairedpeople in Zim, aiming to substancially draw closer to eliviate poverty and establish social, financial, and professional independence.
