1. How effective is the
combination of your main
products and ancillary
texts?
In order to my three products to work well together
in promoting one horror film. I have created a
house style throughout 3 pieces of works in order
to make it clear to the audience that they are all
linked together and advertise the same product.
3. Image: As can easily be seen in all three products, the
photograph of Will and Grace in the same set of clothes
are used. Moreover, the image used in the magazine
cover is actually one of the scene in the horror trailer.
Through that, I want to show the audience a theme
between them. I feel that by having the photograph of
the main characters in all the products can relate them
together better. Moreover, in the image of the poster, we
can see a red eyes in the background while we can see
a girl with red eyes standing behind the boy in the
magazine cover, which helps to suggest the genre of the
film.
4. Font: I have used a small amount of
different types of font. By using a
consistent font, I want to create a link in
the audience’s mind about the film
whenever they see that font. For
example, in the poster and the magazine
cover, I have used the same font for the
title “Possession”, which helps to connect
them with each other.
5. Colour: As they are used to promote a horror
film so I have chosen all the colors that relate to the
horror convention. I also limit the number of colors
to 3 main colors which are white, black and red. I
feel that black can represent for the darkness and
scariness while red can represent evil, blood. At the
same time, white can be outstanding when it is used
with these two colors. I think that when these three
colors work together, they look very professional
and similar to the real media products.
6. Logo: The red skull is used as the logo for my
horror film. Therefore, I have included the logo in
each of my products. In the trailer, it is presented
big and clear as the background for the title. At the
same time, it is used as the letter “O” in Possession
in the magazine cover and it is also included in the
poster as a letter “O”. I have used the logo
constantly in order to build up an image about the
film to the audience and make it remarkable.
7. Multi platform promotion: The
website of our film is presented in the end of the
teaser and as well as in the poster. They are all
in similar size and as well as in white. By having
the website address where the audience can
easily see it, it can encourage the audience to
find out more about the film and increase their
attention toward the film.
