We use a mixed approach for our outreach programs, building on our existing outreach methods including traditional methods such as fliers and banners around campus. This year we wanted to add more depth to our outreach so we added a couple of new strategies to the mix. We also wanted to show students that we’re not dry and boring – we know how to have fun too!
We wanted not only to draw attention to ourselves but to let students know we have fun too! We did have “learning outcomes” but the emphasis was on the fun part. We had inflatable carnival games, plinko, and Madame Cheri, our fortune teller Served lemonade and popcornOffered prizes for the games including Branded items and candy bars as “consolation prizes”. We got Blaze, our mascot to come, and that really drew a lot of attention.
