(Start out by sharing story about how I got involved in using technology in education...) Almost 10 years ago, I was teaching HS social studies in California and my class was starting a unit on Africa. I had previously been a Peace Corps volunteer in Swaziland, and really wanted to do something impressive. I knew my students had misconceptions about Africa, so I asked them to write down a few random things they'd always wondered about regarding Africa, and turn them in. I went home and emailed the questions to my African friend. She responded overnight and I brought the answers into class the next morning. An amazingly stimulating conversation ensued. From that point forward, I have looked for meaningful and simple ways to incorporate technology in education. Google Apps is another one of those discoveries...
