Background & Methodology Background
Trend Micro wishes to gain insights into Technology & Security use among the general consumer population, as well as, among consumers who have children. Methodology Insight Express targeted individuals to ensure every respondent accesses the internet for at least one hour a day on a device which they own. Half of the sample also had to have at least one child under the age of 18 that is currently living at home. Children • 4 out of every 10 parents surveyed believe their children are safe while using the internet. • 56% of parents in the UK believe this, while only 12% of parents in Japan agree. • Globally, the majority of the parents whose children have an account with social networking sites indicated their children‟s online privacy on social networking sites is important, particularly so in the US, the UK and Australia.
