2. What are you talking about? A series of books where each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character's actions and the plot's outcome.

3. Choices The books are formatted so that the protagonist encounters conflicts that present him with choices. The reader must decide what the character does.

4. Why haven’t I heard of these? They were super popular in the 80s and 90s, but can still be found in book stores today.

5. There’s always a hero. This person faces a lot of decisions throughout the story. So, you’ll have to set up some instabilities in this person’s life.

6. Point of View SECOND PERSON It’s the reader that controls the story. As the writer(s) of a CYOA story, you let the reader decide what happens next.

7. There are a lot of problems. When a book has 32 possible endings, the reader has had to make at least 6 choices to get there.

8. They’re adventure stories. Hero Wants something Villain Who stands in his/her way. Setting Provides a platform for the story Conflict Obstacles/choices drive the story

9. Your Task: In a group of four: Outline your plot using the handout. Log into your Google Doc and begin your story. Split into pairs to write two different paths the story could take. Individually wrap-up the story through four different endings.
