Announcements
 Responsible for knowing everything society related.
 You “have” the final say.
 Scheduling meetings AND attending them.
President
 Be prepared to assume the powers and duties of the office of
the President.
 Manage Listserv and emails
 Help type and edit applications, papers, letters, etc.
 Attend important meetings (societies, funding, Chicago
Sections..)
Vice President
I would like to see the next VP:-Do everything I mentioned.
 DO EVERYTHING THE PRESIDENT DOES
 Get on other officers backs about doing their own duties
 Be more mean than me
 Get more connected with important faculty.
Vice President cont.
Be able to:
 Understand numbers.
 Be familiar people including, but not limited to: Evelyn,
Veronica, Stacie, Urzula, Mashayek, Advisor, Chris Kuypers.
 Write formal applications, requests, proposals in proper
context, voice, etc.
 Expect to be buddies with the President and bug him
constantly about stuff that needs to be done/paid for.
 Figure out how to MAKE money: fundraising, requesting,
begging, prostitution, etc.
Treasurer
 Can plan things such as conventions
 Recommended to have a credit card and under UIC payroll
for TEM(travel) reimbursements
 Expect to put in 4+ hours a week
 Be a good presenter for the proposals
 Recommend having good planning/time management skills
Treasurer cont.
 Should have a personal laptop.
 Must attend all officer meetings and take notes (Minutes).
 Will have to send out Minutes to all of the officers each week.
 Responsible for reserving any rooms for any ASME event.
 Should be VERY organized.
 Responsible for attendance.

Activities Officer
 To establish a relationship with current members and
non-members in order to bring new members to the
society. As the Recruitment Chair, it is required that the
officer be an Engineering 100 TA and be active on
campus. This Officer position also requires good
communication skills and a willingness to socialize with
students at any given time. Recruitment Chair may also
be responsible for certain branding elements and
materials representing the Chicago chapter.

 Responsible for CONSTANTLY updating the website.
 Meetings, Dates, Events, etc.
 Responsible for keeping the Facebook page up to
date.
Webmaster
 Public Relations Officer will spend his/her time trying
to connect with as many people as they can; both
inside and outside UIC. For example, the PR officer
will try to email companies to get contacts so that the
Activities Officers can plan events with them. In
addition, the PR officer will be responsible for
knowing what is going on around campus so that
he/she can inform the officer board about said
events.

FIRST
 Liaison between engineering council and other
engineering societies.
 Attend meetings and record minutes.
 Societies come and share their activities and
upcoming events.
Engineering Council
 The Competitions Officer will be responsible for getting
ASME involved in as many competitions as he/she can.
Competitions include: Ishow, Old Guard, Student Design,
Human Powered Vehicle, etc. In addition, he/she will be
responsible for creating teams for each competition (if
need be) and be responsible for making sure each team is
on track.

 If you are interested in running for one of the top 4
positions, I want you to inform me of it ahead of time.
 I will be sending out an email with a list of questions
that I want you to answer.
 Elections will be in two weeks: everyone is invited.
New Officers
 ASME Chicago Section is setting up a WhirlyBall
tournament for Friday April 4th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the
downtown Chicago WhirlyBall center (1880 W.
Fullerton).
 They should have a flyer and online sign-up sheet
shortly.
 Teams of 5, individuals can sign up, or if teams are
arranged beforehand just let us know.
Announcements
 Federal Mogul Tour:
 Leave UIC at 3:00PM and arrive by 3:45 PM, tour can go as
late as 7:00 PM.
 Pizza will be provided at the end along with a Q&A so
please have questions ready about Federal Mogul.
 The HR will be talking about job opportunities, but I do not
believe she is taking resumes.
 They are also giving us t-shirts, so I need all attendees
sizes.
 Tour is limited to 15 people.
 Email Victor if you want to go.
